Stamping Fin Manufacture Process
Stamping process is a metal processing method, which is based on the plastic deformation of metal, using the die and stamping equipment to apply pressure to the plate material to produce plastic deformation or separation of the plate material, so as to obtain stamped fin with certain shape, size and performance.

Stamping Heatsink
Stamping heat sink offer better performance when compared to typical extrusion heatsinks, due to thinner fin profiles leading to higher surface area and lower pressure drop. It is made of stamped fin from of rolled aluminum or copper sheet by stamping tooling, fins are interlocked together during this process. Because the fin is stamped by an automatic machine, capacity is very high, hence the price is lower.
Stamping fins includes zipper fin, folded fin, stacked fin, the most common material is AL1050, AL1100, AL3003, CU1100. After the fins are made by stamping process, it will be soldered to aluminum or copper base and heat pipe.
The benefits of stamping fin heat sink is:
- Moderate to high surface area
- High aspect ratio
- Allows heat pipe integration
- Superior forced air solution
